How To Increase Google Ranking Without Links

- 0 comments
We’re all busy people, and our lives shouldn’t be spent building backlink after backlink just to move up a spot or two in search results. I think we can all agree when starting out, there are much better ways to spend our time. The less effort and time we need spend with mundane tasks like link building, the more time we will have for creating epic shit, and building our foundation.

So with that I present this case study on how to increase Google ranking for highly competitive keywords with absolutely zero link building, quick and simple.

First, The Results

So before I get to the “how” stuff, I want to share with you what you can achieve with the steps I provide later in the case study. Some might say I’m stupid for giving away the keywords I try to rank for, but I have two things to say about that:

The Art of Search Engine Optimization

- 0 comments
Owning a website, blog or any other web application that gets found or ranks high in Google, Yahoo, Bing, Alta Vista, etc. isn’t hard to do, but it can be challenging, it is a complete makeover of the website done with certain elements that would suit the ‘tone’ of that site. Enticing a search engine’s web crawlers to your site is half the job done. I’ve dealt with search engine optimization for a couple of years and here are a few tips you should have at your fingertips:

Optimize your site for your target audience, not for Google or other search engines.

This may sound unreasonable, but trust me. The search engines are looking for pages that best fit the keyword phrase someone types into their little search box. If those people are type in search words that relate to what your site offers, then they are most likely members of your target audience. You need to optimize your site to meet their needs. This information will be crucial to your resulting website design, keyword, and description.

Research your keyword phrases extensively.

Your target market phrases might be different, so you have to optimize your phrases, I use the Google’s Keyword Tool(there are many more keyword tools). Come up with a list of the most relevant phrases for your site, and then a few different ones for every page. Advice, is never shoot for general keywords eg. “factory” or “holiday,” as they are rarely (if ever) declarative of what your site is truly about.

Come up with a site architecture based on your keyword research. For example if your site is for a Paediatricians Clinic, include words like ‘children’s hospital,’ ‘children’s health.’

Program your site to be “crawler-friendly.”

Used constantly by search engines, web crawlers are computer programs which are used to gather data and index information from the websites. The ranking of a webpage is determined by the information the web crawlers gather. Search engines can’t fill out forms, can’t search your site, can’t read JavaScript or JQuery links and menus, and can’t interpret graphics and Flash. This doesn’t mean that you can’t use these things on your site. You’ll need to make sure that you always have some form of HTML links in the main navigation on every page which link to the top-level pages of your site. From those pages, you’ll need to have further HTML links to the individual pages.

Use alt attributes on your images as clearly and descriptively as possible.

Your site visitors and the search engines look at the the anchor text to help them understand what they’re going to find once they click through. Don’t make them guess using phrases like “click here” or other non-descriptive words. Be as descriptive as possible with every text and graphical link on your site.

Incorporate your keyword phrases and descriptions into each page’s unique Head tag. The Title tage should also reflect what’s in the page, Title tags are critical because they’re given a lot of weight with every search engine. eg.

                            <head>
<meta name=”keywords” content=”–enter your keywords————-”>

<meta name=”description” content=”———-enter your description—-”>
                           </head>

Make sure your site is “link-worthy.”

Other sites linking to yours is an important component of a successful search engine optimization campaign, as all of the major search engines place a good deal of emphasis on your site’s overall link popularity.

You can sign up for a Google Analytics for free, which easily tracks and measures those things that truly matter. Google Aanlytics also helps with updating your website information using Google Crawlers.

How to Optimize Your PC Games' Graphics Settings in One Click

- 0 comments
Most PC games have a plethora of graphics settings that let you strike the perfect balance between quality and performance. If you don't enjoy digging into these settings, though, both NVIDIA and AMD have apps that will do all the heavy lifting for you—with just one click.

I personally love tweaking these settings myself, and knowing how they work is the best way to hit that sweet spot between quality and performance. A lot of people, however, don't like fiddling—they just want to start playing games (understandably). That's where these apps come in: with just one click, you can optimize your games' graphics for your particular hardware, with no work at all, and get the best experience possible. Here's a quick overview of the two apps. Check out the video above to see them in action.

For NVIDIA Cards: GeForce Experience

What Can I Do with a Dead or Broken Laptop?

Try to Fix Your Laptop

What Can I Do with a Dead or Broken Laptop?

Unless your laptop's motherboard has died or you've rendered your display useless, fixing your "dead" laptop isn't out of the question. In fact, it's probably realistic. You could pay for a professional repair service to handle the problem for you, but often times the cost will be higher than the actual value of your machine. If you can't afford a new one, or simply don't want to spend money unnecessarily, you can often fix the problem yourself. Assuming you know what's actually broken and needs replacing, just follow these steps:
  1. Order a replacement part. You may need to call the manufacturer and provide your model number to figure out the specifications for the part you need to order. While you can often order that part directly, you'll probably find something cheaper on Newegg, Amazon (consider the used and refurbished gear in some cases if it saves a lot of money), Craigslist or eBay. Alternatively, if you've got a Mac you can turn to the iFixIt parts store.
  2. Figure out how to replace the part. If you're just replacing a hard drive or a stick of RAM, chances are the instructions are in the manual that came with your machine. This is because RAM and hard drives tend to be user-replaceable parts. This is not always the case, but you'll generally find that to be a problem more often with Apple laptops than any other brand. Either way, you'll find many repair guides for Apple and standard PC laptop hardware at iFixIt. If not, do a web search for "repair guide" and the name of your model. There's always a chance one of your fellow internet citizens has posted some form of assistance.
  3. Order the part you need and follow the guide to replace it. (This much is probably pretty obvious.) Be sure to keep track of all the screws you remove. I find it helps to separate them into an array of small bowls so you can easily locate the different types and don't risk accidentally brushing them off your worktable.
Hopefully once you're finished you'll have a working laptop again. It won't last forever, but it'll keep your computing companion alive a little bit longer.

Strip Your Laptop for Parts

What Can I Do with a Dead or Broken Laptop?

If your laptop can be an organ donor—which is to say, you've decided to open it up and remove the still-functioning hardware inside of its casing—there's a lot you can do. You can sell the parts individually on the black market Craigslist, or just put the entire computer up for sale at a reduced price (usually around half of its going rate as a used product) while noting that it isn't fully functional.

You can also keep many of the parts you dissect for other uses. If they still work, the hard drive, optical drive, RAM, and display can have their uses down the line. In most cases, the hard drive and optical drive can be placed in their own external enclosures to be used as individual devices on another machine. Losing a laptop sucks, but gaining a couple of handy peripherals is a better outcome than nothing. RAM is always handy to keep around in case you can use it in another machine. That machine may not be your new computer, but it makes a nice gift to a friend who could use the extra boost. Finally, the display can be turned into a standalone monitor. Additionally, it's one of the more expensive components so you may want to sell it locally on Craigslist or remotely on eBay (and sometimes even Amazon).

Transform Your Laptop into Something New

What Can I Do with a Dead or Broken Laptop?

If you can't fix your laptop and don't want to strip it for parts, there are several DIY projects that can help you make better use of the hardware that's still functional. What you can and cannot do will, of course, depend on what your laptop can still do. If its motherboard is dead, nothing will be an option. Virtually anything else, however, can still keep it functioning on some level.

If you've lost the trackpad, keyboard, and/or display, you have a lot of options. For starters, these handicapped machines make great network-attached storage devices for downloading and serving files on your network. If the display still works but you've only lost the trackpad and keyboard, your laptop is in perfect condition to be turned into a touchscreen tablet. When a broken case is the issue, your laptop might just make a better desktop. You could even mount it on the wall or under a cabinet.
